News You Can Use! 

Upcoming Field Trip
Our fourth grade scholars are scheduled to visit the Adler Planetarium on Tuesday, February 12th.  The price of the trip is $10.00.
Valentine’s Day Celebration and Fundraiser
Please support our 8th grade scholars as they raise money for their culminating trip to  Atlanta, Georgia.  Candy grams are being sold this week for only $1.00 or 6 for $5.00.  Additionally, as a class, we will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Thursday afternoon.  If you would like your scholar to participate feel free to provide them with treats for 28 students.
READING
We will be working on summarizing and text features in nonfiction.                                WEEKLY WRITING PROMPTS
Monday:  Valentine’s Day is not just about candy and cards.  Make a list of 10 different ways that you can show love and friendship to your family and friends.
Tuesday: Think about all of the people in your life.  Describe one person in your life that you think has the biggest heart.  
Wednesday: Pretend that Cupid took this year off from being the Valentine’s Day mascot.  Create a new Valentine’s Day mascot for this year.  Draw a picture and explain your drawing.    
Thursday: Think about the different ways that you show love to your family.                                  Write about some of the best ways that you show love to your family.                                                       
Friday: No School!  Enjoy the day off.
SCIENCE UPDATE
We are continuing to explore the fascinating aspects of Life Science. 
WHAT’S NEXT IN MATH?
We are learning about Measurement.  The new due date for the Measurement MATH PACKET (Chapter 24) is Wednesday, February 13th.
